How to Make Homemade Hummingbird Nectar

Mix 1 part sugar with 4 parts water in a saucepan. Heat until sugar dissolves. Cool before filling feeder.

Avoid using red food coloring as it can be harmful to hummingbirds. The red on the feeder is enough to attract them.

Change nectar every 2-3 days, especially in hot weather to prevent fermentation and mold growth.

Clean the feeder thoroughly with hot water and a bottle brush each time you refill it to prevent mold and bacteria buildup.

Place the feeder in a shady spot to keep the nectar fresh longer and prevent it from spoiling quickly in the sun.

Enjoy watching hummingbirds visit your feeder filled with homemade nectar. Remember to keep it clean and fresh!
